Sci-Fi Trivia Marathon Instructions and Introduction So you think you know science-fiction? Fantasy? Hah! We shall see! The basic play and goal of Sci-Fi Trivia Marathon is simple - each day players are presented a chance to answer up to a sysop determined number of questions that deal with science-fiction and fantasy in films, television, books, etc. Each correctly answered question adds points to the player's cumulative score. The number of points is dependent on the number of seconds left on the timer when the correct answer was entered. An incorrect answer ends the player's turn for the day. A running scoreboard is kept of the Top Ten players' scores. However, it should be remembered that since player scores are cumulative a player not in the Top Ten today could squeak in tomorrow if someone stumbles and another player has a good run in a particular day's play. The questions themselves are all multiple choice. There are four possible answers offered as choices. Read the question and then enter the number corresponding to the answer you believe to be correct. You have only one chance at selecting the correct answer. You have only 60 seconds to select the correct answer. Players may find some questions that are complete "stumpers" in that they may not even recognize what film, television program or literary work they are derived from. The player will either be able to determine the source of the question from the scant information contained within the question or they won't. Always remember that the question database has been assembled from a very wide coverage of the science-fiction and fantasy realm. The database was meant to both challenge and perhaps cause the player to do some additional research, viewing or reading. It is also hoped that the database may even pique a player's interest enough to view a previously unknown film or read a previously unfamiliar novel. The Sci-Fi Trivia Marathon 1996 Edition, has 500 possible questions in the registered version. The unregistered version is limited to 100 questions. The sysop can determine how many possible questions each player may face each day in the registered version. The unregistered version is limited to 10 questions per day. The registered version also automatically resets the first day of each month. The unregistered version does not. If you play the Sci-Fi Trivia Marathon and enjoy it, consider helping your sysop by offering to register it for him. The Sci-Fi Trivia Marathon 1996 Edition is currently $15 and this registration does include all future editions. You'll be helping your sysop, yourself and your fellow users.
